2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee Deep Dive: Four Models, Three HEMI V-8 Engines, and One New Truck Subsegment
May 26 2026,
For the better part of two decades, the pickup truck segment evolved in every direction except one. Off-road capability grew more advanced, towing ratings climbed higher, and interior quality reached a level few would have predicted. But the muscle truck, a pickup built the way a muscle car is built, with a big displacement V-8, rear-wheel-drive character, and driver-focused hardware, had been absent since Ram discontinued the SRT10 "Viper truck" in the mid-2000s. The 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee is Ram's answer to that gap, and it comes with four models, three distinct HEMI V-8 engines, and a body configuration designed from the ground up to feel unlike any other half-ton on the road.
The announcement came through a short film hosted by Tim Kuniskis, head of American brands and SRT Performance at Stellantis, and it was framed around a straightforward idea: muscle car owners, as a group, consistently buy a pickup as their second vehicle, and nothing in the current market speaks to them specifically. The Rumble Bee lineup is designed to do exactly that.
Why Ram Built a New Body Configuration
Every Rumble Bee model shares a body configuration that does not exist on any other Ram 1500. Ram removed 330 mm from the wheelbase, creating an exclusive Quad Cab and short bed arrangement with an overall length of 5,575 mm (219.5 inches) and a width of 2,235 mm (88 inches). That 330 mm reduction cuts frame flex by 10 percent and creates a shorter, stiffer structure that responds to driver inputs more directly than a standard long-wheelbase pickup.
The wider body delivers real performance benefits. The Rumble Bee and Rumble Bee 392 use a long-arm independent front suspension that widens the front track by 173 mm (6.8 inches) and the rear axle by 178 mm (7 inches) compared to a standard Ram 1500. These changes put more rubber on the ground and push the handling character in a direction that Ram describes as "untrucklike."
Four Models, Three Power Levels
Ram structured the Rumble Bee into four models with escalating performance:
Rumble Bee: Powered by the 5.7-litre HEMI V-8 producing 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. It runs the quarter-mile in 14.6 seconds at 150 km/h and reaches 96 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
Rumble Bee 392: Powered by the 6.4-litre 392 HEMI V-8 producing 470 horsepower. Quarter-mile drops to 13.2 seconds at 163 km/h, and the sprint to 96 km/h takes 5.2 seconds.
Rumble Bee 392 Track Pack: Same 470-horsepower 6.4-litre 392 HEMI V-8, but with the SRT suspension package, Bilstein Damptronic Sky dual-valve semi-active performance shocks, Brembo performance brakes with 410 mm rotors and six-piston calipers, aerodynamic splitter and rear spoiler, and 325/40R22 tires on 22-by-12-inch wheels.
Rumble Bee SRT: Powered by the 6.2-litre supercharged Hellcat HEMI V-8 producing 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque. The 0-96 km/h time is 3.4 seconds, the quarter-mile comes in at 11.6 seconds at 187 km/h, and the targeted top speed is 274 km/h. Ram calls this the most powerful internal combustion engine ever offered in a production pickup truck.
Hardware Shared Across the Whole Lineup
Despite the differences in power, every Rumble Bee shares a set of driver-focused hardware. A flat-bottom performance steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters and a G/T console shifter are standard. Full-time active four-wheel drive is standard, along with a dedicated RWD button next to the shifter that disconnects the front axle for true rear-wheel-drive operation.
Drive modes on the Rumble Bee and 392 include Auto, Sport, Snow, Tow, and Custom. The 392 Track Pack and SRT add Track and Valet modes. The cockpit starts with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with unique Rumble Bee graphics and a start-up animation, while Uconnect touchscreen sizes range from 8.4 inches on the base Rumble Bee up to 12 and 14.5 inches on higher variants.
What the SRT Brings to the Table
The Rumble Bee SRT is where Ram's SRT Performance division applied all four of its product pillars: awe-inspiring powertrain, mission-specific chassis, performance interior, and function-driven exterior. The 6.2-litre supercharged HEMI V-8 uses a 2.4-litre twin-screw supercharger capable of 11.6 psi of boost, and the engine is matched to a high-torque-capacity TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission.
The SRT air suspension is set 38 mm lower than the standard Rumble Bee ride height to improve handling. The aerodynamic package generates 87 kg (192 lbs) of downforce at 274 km/h. The front brakes use 410-by-42 mm Brembo six-piston calipers, and the rear axle features an electronic spool function that allows controlled oversteer in RWD mode. Launch control is standard.
Still a Working Truck
All of this performance engineering does not come at the expense of truck capability. The Rumble Bee lineup is rated for up to 8,890 lbs (4,032 kg) of towing and up to 1,160 lbs (526 kg) of payload. The standard Ram 1500 five-link rear suspension architecture is retained, adapted and tuned for Rumble Bee's performance focus.

What Does This Mean for Performance Pickup Buyers?
The Rumble Bee is the first time Ram has offered the 392 HEMI V-8 in the Ram 1500 platform, and the first time a production pickup has come equipped with the Hellcat HEMI at this level of tune. For buyers who have been waiting for a pickup that connects to the spirit of a muscle car, the lineup offers a clear entry point with the 5.7-litre base model and a clear ceiling with the SRT.
The 5.7-litre Rumble Bee is set to arrive in late 2026. The Rumble Bee 392 and Rumble Bee SRT are expected in the first half of 2027.
